THE CANDLE FESTIVAL
The Candle Festival is a woman's parade. It gives young women an opportunity to dress in the height of their traditional finery and display their dancing prowess. This festival takes place on Wan Asa Laha Puja day, the day before the start of buddhist Lent when every Buddhist male is expected to enter a temple at least once in their lives.

ReplyDeleteI worked with you at Whiteside Primary School. I went to dinner at Ian's and Elene's place and Ian was talking about your adventures. I said "I know him!!! I taught with him at Whiteside Primary School!!!!!" I have been to China. Have you seen the Great Wall. How amazing. I couldn't even climb it as it was sooooo amazing I spent 1 hour just looking at it and soaking in the scenery. Have you been to see the Teracota Warriors. They are amazing also. And the history around both of these sites is out of this world. I have also been to Vietnam. I taught over there for a while. So untouched and beautiful. Loved the people and the food. The tailoring was also fantastic. Would really like to go back but there is so much more I want to experience. I would love to do what you are doing but have (fingers crossed) 8 years before retirement) Whant to take some long service leave next year and go to North Thailand. To Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and then over to Laos. The other trips I have done have been with tour groups or with other teachers when I taught in Vietnam. Want to do this next trip on my own. Should I go to the Tiger Temple and to the River Kwai or do you think they are tooooo touristy???? I don't really like the tourist things. Would rather see the real traditional parts and people. I will write more if this Blog works as I am not really a computer person and I have tried to post a comment to you before and it hasn't worked. So, if this works, that would be fantastic!!!!!
